Thank you for your valuable feedback.
The lid for this particular model is indeed slightly larger, due to the sensor mechanism inside. However, it is easily removable for putting larger items inside the bin.
We’re delighted that you like everything else about the bin. And many thanks again.

Well built, useful features and some nice added extras make this an all round excellent product. The door opening sensor works really well, it is responsive but not so sensitive that you will open it when walking past it for example. When the doors open via the sensor there is a five second countdown, indicated by lights on the top, to the doors automatically closing again which is very helpful. This is not the only way to open the doors there are two buttons on the front that open and close the doors manually, keeping it open until you hit the close button. Both of the internal bins (one for rubbish, one for recycling) are easy to remove without taking the top of the bin off making them easy to empty. There is one draw back however, there is no way to open the doors to the bin if there are no batteries or they have run out of power. I haven’t had it long enough to know how long the battery life is yet.

Really impressed with this slim designed phantom waste bin from EKO.
The sleek stainless finishing and the clever sensor, makes this a handy and stylish addition to the kitchen.
It’s strong, sturdy and won’t be moving around the kitchen.
The bin has a total capacity of 40 litre which is broken down in to two inner compartments, one for general waste and one for recycling- if that’s how you choose to use it. I suppose a couple of slight concerns; firstly, the bins are quite narrow… so if you put anything large in either side, they will fill up quickly! Secondly, trying to find bin bags to fit accurately, so far I’m making do with some oversized sacks. I believe EKO do they’re own liners… but I will be hunting the supermarket shelves to find suitable ones.
The main feature of this bin is sensor mechanism which is an excellent feature (when you get it working) brilliant if you have your hands full or even to prevent germs and mucky fingerprints all over the bin lid! However the bin does also allow for manual access by the touch buttons.
I think the grumble for me, is that there isn’t any batteries included AND it takes 6! So hopefully they won’t need replacing too frequently otherwise the unique selling point to this bin could go to waste!
All in all, a great stylish addition to the kitchen, a good size and the sensors to open it, is certainly novel and gains “ooooo’s” from visitors!
